Third Committee

Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs

The Third Committee addresses issues relating to a range of social and humanitarian issues affecting people around the world. Similarly, an important part of the work within this Committee is the consideration of human rights issues, including the reports of special procedures of the Human Rights Council.

Peru's priorities within this Commission are focused on gender equality issues, highlighting the economic empowerment of women; the protection of children and adolescents; indigenous issues; as well as the promotion of fundamental freedoms through the elimination of racism and racial discrimination. In addition, Peru has a strong commitment to the social agenda, such as those related to people with disabilities, aging, youth and social inclusion such as those on the security agenda, relating to transnational organized crime, in particular drug trafficking and the world drug problem, and corruption.
