Sixth Committee

Legal Affairs

The Sixth Committee is the principal forum devoted to the examination of legal questions in the General Assembly and to the progressive development and codification of international law, in accordance with article 13 of the Charter of the United Nations.

Among the topics prioritized by Peru are: 1) "The rule of law at the national and international levels"; (2) "Measures to eliminate international terrorism"; and (3) "Status of Additional Protocols to the 1949 Geneva Conventions Relating to the Protection of Victims of Armed Conflict". In connection with the work of the Sixth Committee, the General Assembly's consideration of the annual reports of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court can also be highlighted.
